Once again, Robins has a FULL house!
Like Richmond, the Foundation has a lot of great things… Meet 3!
This summer, we picked up three interns to help us with operations, programs and community engagement. Please note: these are not just any interns, no… This summer’s set includes one familiar face, one member of the Robins family and one participant of our community partner, VCU’s ASPIRE cohort. Please say hello to Cathleen, Clay and Daryl!
Cathleen “Helping Us Get Fit” Williams (left) is a rising junior at Virginia Commonwealth University studying Exercise Science. A native of Richmond, she came to Robins to build upon her work with ASPIRE and to learn more about philanthropy and our efforts with community partners.
Clay “Making History While Learning History” Robins (middle) is a 4th generation Robins and our first family intern! Clay is an upcoming Senior who attends Hampden Sydney College where his major is History. Clay is spending the summer documenting the philanthropic legacy of the family.
Last, but not least is Daryl “Oldie, But Goodie” Randolph (right) is a familiar face to the team; he interned with us last summer through his participation with Partnership for the Future. He is a rising sophomore studying Accounting at Shaw University in NC on a full academic scholarship.

WHO ARE YOU, WHERE DO YOU GO TO SCHOOL, WHAT ARE YOU STUDYING:
My name is Cathleen Williams and I am currently a junior at Virginia Commonwealth University. My major is Exercise Science.
CAREER GOALS:
After graduation, I have plans of enrolling in a doctorate program in physical therapy. Ideally, I’d like to either specialize in neurological rehabilitation or work with athletes in my own physical therapy clinic.
ROLE MODEL:
My role model is my dad (although we often clash) because he’s proven to be the most hard-working person I know. Throughout my entire life, he’s always found a way to provide for my mom and brother. If he was laid off from a job, he would almost immediately find another way to make money. My earliest memories of him were seeing him creating his own lawn care service and cutting the neighbor’s grass, moving people out, and performing various tasks people would pay him for. My dad and I are complete opposites; he’s such an extrovert and can spark up a conversation with any stranger while I’m more on the introvert end of the spectrum. But, even with our differences he’s made one of the biggest impacts on who I am today.
FAV LOCAL ACTIVITY & WHY:
My favorite activity in Richmond is to go running. Richmond’s streets are endless and it seems like there’s always something new to see or a new trail/route to check out. My favorite part of my run is catching my second wind and feeling like I could run forever.
BOOK/MOVIE THAT INSPIRES YOU:
August Rush is my all-time favorite movie and has a powerful message that proves that following your passion (music, in Evan’s case) will lead to happiness and good fortune, even if no one understands your level of ambition. Evan had to experience adversity like growing up in foster home and being psychologically abused to be able to experience the joy of his passion of music which eventually led to him meeting his parents.
FAV FOOD or RESTAURANT:
My favorite food is meatloaf because it reminds me of coming home after school and being ecstatic that my mom made a big serving of it along with cabbage. My mom doesn’t make it often, so it’s definitely a treat when she does.
THREE “FUN FACTS” ABOUT YOU:
- I can’t swim
- I’m allergic to cats
- I went to New Balance Nationals three times in high school
